Show Don't Tell: Matthew 9:27-31
Instead of saying "Jesus healed two blind men," hear them following in darkness. Two blind men trailing Jesus, crying out: "Have mercy on us, Son of David!" The messianic title—they see who he is without seeing him. Jesus goes indoors; they follow. He asks: "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" "Yes, Lord." He touches their eyes: "According to your faith let it be done to you." And their eyes open. First light in years, maybe ever. First faces. First colors. Jesus warns them sternly: "See that no one knows about this." But they can't contain it. They go out and spread the news throughout the region. Healed eyes and loosed tongues—the Messiah's presence cannot be hidden.
