Show Don't Tell: Matthew 9:32-34

Instead of saying "Jesus healed a mute man," hear the first words. They bring a man who cannot speak—demon-possessed, his voice stolen. Jesus drives out the demon, and the man speaks. What were his first words? After years of silence, what sounds finally escaped? The crowd is amazed: "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel." But the Pharisees sneer: "It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons." The same miracle, two responses. The crowd sees unprecedented power. The religious leaders see satanic conspiracy. The battle lines are forming. As Jesus' miracles multiply, so does the opposition. Every healing hardens hearts that refuse to believe.
