Show Don't Tell: Psalm 128

Instead of saying "Those who fear God will be blessed," set the family table. Song of Ascents. "Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in obedience to him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours." Eating what you worked for—not stolen by invaders. "Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table." Wife as vine—fruitful, clinging, domestic. Children as olive shoots—new growth, promising, surrounding. Table as center. "Yes, this is the blessing for the one who fears the LORD." Affirmation. "May the LORD bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. May you live to see your children's children—peace be on Israel." Grandchildren seen, peace given. Domestic blessing expanding to national hope.
