Show Don't Tell: Psalm 133
Instead of saying "Unity is beautiful," smell the oil running down. Song of Ascents, of David. "How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!" Good and pleasant—aesthetic and sensory pleasure in unity. "It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down to the collar of his robe." Oil poured on Aaron at consecration—so much it runs down beard to clothing. Extravagant, fragrant, visible overflow. "It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion." Hermon's heavy dew—famous moisture—imagined on Zion. Blessing from the high place. "For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore." Where there's unity, there's blessing. Three verses. Oil and dew. Overflow and freshness.
