Spotlight: Loosing the Bonds of Wickedness (Isaiah 58:6-7)

In Spotlight, Boston Globe journalists uncover the Catholic Church's systematic cover-up of child abuse. They share their roof with survivors, listen to painful stories, bring hidden wickedness into light. "Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke?" The journalists weren't religious—but they did Isaiah's work. They loosened bonds of secrecy; they let oppressed voices finally speak. Sometimes prophetic work is done by those outside the temple, while those inside protect the institution. Isaiah would recognize the Spotlight team as priests.
