The Name No One Knows Yet
Every year, the U.S. Marshals Service relocates hundreds of people through witness protection. Their old identities are erased — bank accounts closed, records sealed, obituaries sometimes printed. A woman in Miami becomes a stranger in Omaha. A man from Brooklyn starts over in a small town in Montana. To the outside world, they have died.
But they are more alive than ever. They carry within them an identity no one around them can see. Their neighbors know them by borrowed names. Their real story, their real significance, remains hidden — kept safe by a power far greater than their own.
Paul says something remarkably similar to the Colossians. You have died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. The world looks at you and sees an ordinary person — a teacher, a nurse, a retiree pushing a cart through the grocery store. But your true identity is tucked into the safekeeping of the Almighty Himself.
And here is the promise that changes everything: when Christ, who is your life, appears, you will appear with Him in glory. The day is coming when who you really are — raised with Christ, radiant with His presence — will be seen by every eye. Until that day, set your mind on things above. Live like someone whose real name is already written in heaven.
