The Poor Trust When Power Fails - Liberation (Proverbs 3:5-6)
In Latin American base communities, the poor know Proverbs 3:5-6 differently than the comfortable. When you have no power, no resources, no connections, trusting God isn't one option among many—it's all you have. "Lean not on your own understanding"—the poor have little to lean on anyway. Their trust is purified by necessity. Oscar Romero said the poor evangelize the church by showing what real trust looks like. Those with backup plans trust differently than those whose only plan is God.
