William Carey was a poor cobbler in 18th-century England who hung a hand-drawn map of the world above his workbench. While repairing shoes, he prayed over nations that had never heard the gospel. When he proposed missions to India, church leaders scoffed: "Young man, sit down. When God wants to convert the heathen, He will do it without your help." Carey went anyway, becoming the "father of modern missions." The Great Commission wasn't given to apostles only—it was given to cobblers, accountants, teachers.
