Woodlawn: Revival by the Spirit - Baptist (Acts 2)
Woodlawn depicts genuine revival: hardened hearts broken, racial barriers crossed, whole communities transformed. The Spirit moved on a football team and through them on a city. Baptist churches have often been centers of revival movements: the First and Second Great Awakenings, the Prayer Revival of 1858. Acts 2 is the pattern: the Spirit falls, preaching goes forth, people are convicted ("cut to the heart"), and they respond with faith and baptism. Baptist emphasis on believer's baptism flows from Pentecost: 3,000 who believed were baptized that day.
