The Prince of Egypt: Responding to God's Call - Wesleyan (Exodus 3)
In The Prince of Egypt, Moses resists: "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?" God responds not by overpowering Moses's will but by promising presence: "I will be with you." Moses could have refused—and initially does! But he ultimately responds in faith. Wesleyan theology sees grace as enabling but not irresistible. God's prevenient grace brought Moses to the bush; God's convincing grace addressed his objections; Moses's response completed the call. The burning bush is invitation, not coercion. God persuades, promises, and enables—but Moses must say yes. And when he does, transforming power follows.
